FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions, answered straight.
No fine print, no runaround. Here’s how getting connected, billing, equipment, mobile, pricing, and coverage actually work at Aventis.
GETTING CONNECTED
Getting connected
How fast can I actually get online?
It depends which service you're on, and all three are quick. A mobile eSIM lands in your inbox within minutes of your billing being set up. A rural 5G hub is built and labelled in-house and goes out on the next business day's courier with tracking. For city cable, once your address is confirmed we usually have an install date back to you within a couple of hours.
Do I need a technician to come to my home?
Almost never. The rural hub and mobile eSIM are both plug-in-and-go — no visit, no appointment window. City cable ships as a self-install kit you can set up in a few minutes, and if you'd rather have a hand, you can book a free 30-minute setup call with a real person.
How does the rural hub arrive?
We build your gateway in-house, label it for your account, and hand it to the daily courier — you'll get tracking by email the same day it ships. When it arrives, power it on near a window, wait for the lights, and you're online. There's no dish to mount and no crew to schedule.
What if I get stuck during setup?
Every account has a named account manager — a real Canadian you can text through the day and into the evening. Message them and they'll walk you through it. You're never handed to a phone tree or left on hold.
BILLING
Billing
Why is my first bill bigger than one month?
This is the question we get most, so here's exactly how it works. Your first bill covers your first two weeks of service plus the four weeks ahead — because after that, we bill a month in advance. Every bill after the first is a normal single month on the same date each cycle. Nothing is hidden and nothing charges twice; the first bill just spans a little more than a month to line everything up.

One normal month, on the same date, every cycle after.
How am I billed after the first month?
One flat monthly charge on the same date every cycle, for the price you signed up at. No usage meters, no overage fees, no line-item surprises. If you've bundled internet and mobile, it's one bill for the whole household.
How can I pay?
Your plan runs on pre-authorized automatic payment from a credit card or a Visa Debit card — that's the payment method we use (a regular Interac debit card won't work for this). Setting it up once means you're never chasing a due date, every charge is the same amount on the same day, and it's part of how we keep prices this low. If you're buying equipment and want to spread the cost, you can finance it with Affirm or Afterpay at checkout.
What happens if I miss a payment?
If a payment doesn't go through, we don't cut you off and we don't pile on late fees. Your account manager reaches out — by text, email, and phone — to sort it out with you, because life happens. Only if we genuinely can't reach you after several tries over a couple of weeks does the service get paused until the balance is settled. Talk to us early and we'll almost always find a way through.
Is there a setup or activation fee?
There's no per-service activation fee — just a one-time $5 membership when you join. Aventis is a mobility, internet, and communications group, and that membership is what lets us pass the big providers' bulk discounts on to you as member pricing. After that, your costs are simply your monthly plan and, for internet, your equipment — and buying that equipment is what unlocks up to 6 months of service free.
EQUIPMENT
Equipment
Why do I buy my equipment instead of renting it?
Because buying it is the better deal for you, not just for us. Owning your gateway or modem unlocks up to 6 months of service free, it comes with a lifetime warranty, and there's no monthly rental creeping onto your bill forever. When it's paid off, it's simply yours.
My internet dropped — what should I try first?
Power-cycle it. Unplug the gateway or modem, wait about thirty seconds, and plug it back in — this clears the large majority of hiccups on its own. If it's still down after that, text your account manager and they'll dig in with you right away.
What if my equipment stops working?
Every device we sell carries a lifetime warranty. If it fails on us, we replace it — you're not left buying another gateway out of pocket. Reach your account manager and they'll get a replacement moving.
MOBILITY
Mobility
What's an eSIM, and why use one?
An eSIM is a SIM card built into your phone — nothing physical to wait for in the mail or swap in by hand. We email you a QR code; you scan it, and your line goes live. It's faster than a plastic SIM and there's nothing to lose or damage.
Can I keep my current phone number?
Yes. Keep the number you've got — a real person on our side handles the port and does the waiting on hold, so you don't have to. Your line stays active until the switch is ready, so you're never left without service.
How can you offer a phone plan with no credit check?
By taking the phone out of the equation. We don't lock you into a subsidized handset, so there's nothing to run your credit for — no deposit, no credit pull, no gotchas. It's the only postpaid, no-credit-check mobile service in Canada, and it means your plan doesn't depend on your credit score.
Can I bring my own phone?
Absolutely — bringing your own phone is the easiest way to start, and most people do. If you'd rather get a new one, you can finance it with Affirm or Afterpay.

What exactly does the five-year price lock cover?
Your monthly price is frozen for five years — we can't raise it on you, full stop. It only changes if you choose to change something: you move out of province, move outside our coverage, switch plans, or upgrade your equipment. It's a price lock that protects you, not a five-year sentence that traps you.
So is there a contract?
The price lock isn't a contract — it's a promise about your price. The one term to know: the up-to-6-months-free promotion that comes with buying your equipment carries a two-year term. Outside of that promo, you're staying because the service is good, not because you're stuck.
How does the internet + mobile bundle work?
Have any Aventis internet plan and any Aventis mobile line? Take $10 a month off your mobile bill — no matter how many lines you have. It's one household on one bill, with one account manager and one text thread for all of it.
What happens to my price if I move?
If you're moving within our coverage and keeping the same plan, your locked price moves with you. Your price only resets if you move out of province, move outside our coverage, or change your plan or equipment as part of the move. Give your account manager a heads-up and they'll set it all up before you're in the new place.
COVERAGE

How do I know whether I get cable or the 5G hub?
In the city, it's cable and fibre. Everywhere else, it's our portable 5G hub on major-carrier networks. Drop your address into the checker and a real person confirms exactly what's available at your door within one business day — no guessing.
Do you really serve the territories?
Yes — the North is a priority for us, not an afterthought. We bring Hub 500 to Yellowknife and Whitehorse at $90 a month, the same price we charge everywhere else, on major-carrier 5G. We're available in every province and territory, with Manitoba newly launched.
Can I take my hub with me?
Yes, and it costs you nothing extra. Your rural hub isn't bolted to your house — take it to the cabin, the job site, or the RV, anywhere inside our coverage. Satellite roaming plans can run around $200 a month for that freedom; on Rural Connect+, moving is simply free.
